Our Story

Elyssa and Brian first started working together in New London over 10 years ago. After a few years working in different shops they reunited during 2020 and shortly after the lockdown opened their own studio, Black Velvet Ink. Black Velvet Ink is located at the Velvet Mill in Stonington, CT among an amazing community of artisans, entrepreneurs and merchants. While at first it was more of a private studio, the shop has grown and has added several new members under its roof, each with their own unique style of tattooing.
